Burna Boy Named Top Nigerian Artist on Apple Music

Grammy-winning singer Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, has been recognized as the biggest Nigerian artist of all time on Apple Music.

This announcement was made to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.

Burna Boy leads the list of the top 10 most-streamed Nigerian artists, followed by other popular musicians like Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Asake.

The complete top 10 include Tems, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, BNXN, and Olamide.In addition to the artist rankings, Rema’s remix of “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez was highlighted as the most streamed Nigerian song ever on Apple Music.

Other popular songs include Burna Boy’s “Last Last” and Wizkid’s “Essence” featuring Tems. The top five songs also include Tems’ “Free Mind” and Burna Boy’s “Ye.”

The list further features tracks like “Location” by Dave and Burna Boy, Rema’s “Calm Down,” Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” Burna Boy’s “On The Low,” and Wizkid’s “Come Closer” featuring Drake.

Apple Music also showcased Nigeria’s musical diversity by spotlighting nine Afrobeats stars from various cities, including 2Baba from Jos, Omah Lay from Port Harcourt, and Shallipopi from Benin City, among others.
