Divine Ikubor popularly known as Rema is a 19 year old artiste signed to Mavin Records. Over the years, he has been serving Nigerians with his music and now he is serving the world as he is on British popular magazine, DAZED spring/summer 2020 Issue.
With his Afro pop music, his music style as landed him on US tour and even Nigeria’s 2019 Headie Award For “Next Rated Artiste,” and also on Barack Obama’s top song for 2019.
Rema thanked his parents for introducing him to music and also Fela Kuti and 2Face. He spoke about himself writing raps and performing covers of songs at the age of seven, creating his own unique style.
On how he was signed to one of Nigeria’s top record label, Mavin Records. Rema took us back to 2018 when he uploaded a video online. A freestyle to D’Prince’s “Gucci Gang” song, his video which caught D’Prince’s attention, moved him to reach out to Rema, whom he invites to Lagos to meet with him and the boss of Mavin Records Don Jazzy.
