South African sensation Tyla has made history, breaking Beyoncé’s record for the most-streamed album by a Black female artist released in 2024.
Tyla’s self-titled debut album surpassed Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, amassing an impressive 1.565 billion streams on Spotify, compared to Beyoncé’s 1.564 billion. This milestone also makes Tyla’s album the most-streamed by a female African artist in history.
The album’s lead single, Water, has been a massive success, nearing one billion streams on Spotify. It also claimed the inaugural Best African Music Performance award at the 66th Grammys, cementing Tyla’s influence on the global music stage.
Despite its monumental success, Tyla’s album and its deluxe version were notably overlooked in the recently announced 67th Grammy nominations.
Tyla’s rise to stardom has solidified her place as a global icon, representing African talent on an unprecedented scale.
