Our history with makeup dates back to 10,000 BC, a time when Egyptians and Mesopotamians used ground black mineral to line their eyes to reduce sun glare and eye infection which was the belief at that time. There are also speculations that eye liner was worn to protect the wearer from evil. Interesting right?
In the 1920s, the tomb of King Tut, the Egyptian Pharaoh, was discovered with well-lined eyes as was the norm at the time of his death, thus the introduction of eye liner to the Western world.
