President Bola Tinubu has called for patience from Nigerians, promising that the country is on the brink of a transformative era. In a video released by the State House on August 7, 2024, he acknowledged the economic hardships faced by citizens following the removal of the fuel subsidy, attributing part of the pain to an “avoidable lag” between this policy change and the implementation of beneficial plans.
Tinubu expressed empathy for the struggles Nigerians are enduring, stating, “This period may be hard on us… but I urge you all to look beyond the present temporary pains and aim at the larger picture.” He reassured citizens that his administration has developed plans aimed at alleviating these difficulties, emphasizing that he is confident in their effectiveness.
The President urged Nigerians to maintain faith in his administration’s ability to navigate through the current economic turbulence. He stated, “We will get out of this turbulence… Nigeria will be better equipped and able to take advantage of the future that awaits her.” His administration is committed to making education more affordable and providing loans to students, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder access to higher education.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s dedication to promoting the welfare of the populace, asserting, “Our commitment is to promote the greatest good for the greatest number of our people.” He promised that the government would not waver in its efforts to transition Nigeria from its current struggles to a “new and glorious dawn.”
