American singer and actress Selena Gomez recently opened up about her admiration for Nigerian afrobeats sensation, Rema, even prior to their collaborative effort on the ‘Calm Down’ remix.
In a candid revelation, Gomez shared that her admiration for Rema was ignited by his track, ‘Runaway,’ well before the “Rave Lorde” reached out to her for the remix of ‘Calm Down.’
Speaking on her decision to collaborate with Rema, Gomez emphasized her genuine fondness for his personality, underscoring her desire to support him. During her appearance on the VA 100 New York Podcast, the 32-year-old superstar stated, “I actually fell in love with the song ‘Runaway’ before I fell in love with ‘Calm down.’ I literally was a fan of his. But it [remixing ‘Calm Down’] was all like kind of his idea.”
Gomez continued by expressing her admiration for Rema’s demeanor, describing him as humble and grateful for every moment. She also remarked on his kindness and her inclination to look out for him, playfully saying, “I don’t know, I just wanna like take care of him [laughs].”
